Adobe Software for VCU Students
Here you will find comprehensive details about Adobe software at VCU for all VCU Students. We've included some frequently asked questions below as well as additional details for student workers, work-study employees, graduate assistants, and full-time VCU employees who are taking classes at VCU regarding eligibility for the Adobe Creative Cloud Student License.
All non-employee VCU Students currently-enrolled in at least one credit-bearing course for the current academic term (semester) receive access to Adobe Creative Cloud automatically at least 10 days before the start of the academic term (subject to eligibility requirements; see table below). To get started using your VCU Adobe Creative Cloud software license, please visit the Quickstart Guide for Students here.
If you get stuck, if you're unable to sign-in to your account, or if you just have a question that isn't answered here, please reach out to us by emailing adobe@vcu.edu or by submitting a ticket at https://go.vcu.edu/adobe/help.
IMPORTANT: VCU Students should NEVER purchase an Adobe Creative Cloud or other Adobe software license either directly through the adobe.com website OR through the Barnes & Noble ThinkEDU website. These sites do NOT offer the same licensing that is included in the VCU Student Technology Fee / Software Bundle.
If you are presented with a "Trial/Buy Now" button or screen within ANY Adobe app or on ANY Adobe website, please submit a ticket at https://go.vcu.edu/adobe/help or email us at adobe@vcu.edu. You may not be fully-signed in to your VCU Adobe account, or you may be experiencing a known issue with Adobe Enterprise licenses that causes this message to be displayed incorrectly.
If you have a VCU Adobe account, you will NEVER need to provide your credit/debit card info directly to Adobe.
IMPORTANT: VCU Students who are also considered employees of a restricted academic/business unit and/or the VCU Health System (Hospital) are NOT eligible for Adobe cloud access regardless of job code/class.
If you are currently-enrolled as a VCU Student in at least one credit-bearing course and you recently became employed in a new role with a restricted academic/business unit and/or the VCU Health System (Hospital), your access to Adobe cloud resources may be revoked at any time and without notice.
If you are a non-employee VCU Student and you are currently-enrolled in at least one credit-bearing course at VCU, you'll receive access to the following apps/tools. Some apps/tools require Adobe cloud access which is granted to around 96% of VCU students.
If you are a full-time VCU employee and you're currently-enrolled in at least one credit-bearing course as a VCU student, you may be eligible for access to the Adobe Creative Cloud Student License at no cost to your business unit! Please visit review the information below in the section titled "Licensing Information for Student Employees".

All eligible VCU students automatically receive access to Adobe Creative Cloud under the Student Technology Fee. Some VCU students who are also employed with the university in certain job classes may need to manually request access to Adobe Creative Cloud depending on their role (usually full-time employees taking classes under tuition-waiver).
The table below provides details about which job classes of student employees automatically receive access to Adobe Creative Cloud and which job classes must manually request access.
VCU Students who work for a restricted academic/business unit and/or the VCU Health System (hospital) are NOT eligible for Adobe cloud access since their employee role may include access to confidential and sensitive information such as protected health information (PHI). This type of data is regulated under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Category 1 and Category 2 data may not be stored using Adobe's cloud storage platform at any time according to the Terms and Conditions of Usage stated here.

*Some student employees begin in an Hourly (H1) job class (typically during the Summer semester) before officially beginning classes in the next academic term (typically the Fall semester). If student employees who join under this job class do not enroll in at least one credit-bearing course before Add/Drop of the next academic term, then their business unit will be automatically billed for the full cost of the Adobe software license they requested at the prevailing established annual rate with the appropriate proration based on the date of their request submission.
How long can I keep my Adobe Creative Cloud license as an inactive student?
Generally, you will have at least 15 and up to 60 days from the time you complete classes for your most recent actively enrolled academic term (semester) to continue using your Adobe Creative Cloud license. Whether or not students leave active enrollment status by graduating or simply withdrawing from classes or not enrolling in classes again by add/drop of the immediately following academic term, the grace period will begin on the last day of classes for their most recent actively enrolled academic term (semester). See the table below for a breakdown of when access expires by academic term.
Recently Graduated Students: If you recently graduated and lost access to your VCU Adobe Creative Cloud license, you will need to submit a ticket at https://go.vcu.edu/adobe/help to request temporary access. We will only grant access to recent students who graduated in Summer 2024 for up to 24 hours.
Graduating Students: If you will be graduating in the 2024-2025 Academic Year, please see the table below to determine how long your access will remain active before being removed. Re-enrollment requirements apply to ALL students, both non-employee students as well as students are employed by VCU regardless of job code/class.
